About this event:

Join Renee from It's David and Renee for a fun pyro afternoon! Bring a BFF, spouse, parent, or friend and create some memories while you learn the art of pyrography. You'll take home your own texture board, a finished project, and lifelong memories!

In this 3-hour class, we'll quickly review instructions on how to use a professional woodburning tool and time to practice on a scrap piece of wood. Please note this is an intermediate-level class***, so we will not spend very long reviewing basic woodburning tool usage. We will jump right into using nibs for textures.

***[Previous experience using a woodburner is encouraged, although not necessary if you're willing to learn in a faster-paced class! Please email or message us if you have any questions or want to see if this class is for you!]

Next, you'll get step-by-step instructions on burning various textures using various nibs on your own texture board, followed by simple shading techniques using those textures.

You'll learn about the different ways to burn lines and curves, dots and squiggles, and whatever else you discover! You may even begin to develop your own "style" of wood burning. Renee encourages you to explore your own creativity!

Optional "Final" Project: If you are interested in completing a final project, there will be simple mandala and mountain landscape designs for you to trace and fill with your new textures! If you would rather continue playing with the nibs and filling in your texture board, that is perfectly fine! This class is catered to your creativity and is open-ended, meaning you can make it whatever you like. If you want a final project piece, we can do that! If not, keep on playing with those textures!

This class will be relaxed and full of fun, where there are no "mistakes." I encourage you to let go of worries about "messing up", and just enjoy the freedom of creating in this medium that is tactile, sensational, and rewarding. I want everyone to create in their own way!

Q: Where should I park?

A: Please utilize street parking on Bridge St. or the large parking lot across the street next to the Post Office.

Q: Do I have to wear a mask?

A: Please follow the rules of the shop and/or the CDC.

Q: Will I leave with my art?

A: Yes! You will always take home your art at the end of class.

Q: Can I create a different design instead?

A: Sure, but the instruction will be on the designs provided.

Q: What is your refund policy?

A: We will always grant you a future class credit if you're unable to attend the class, but due to the nature of renting and reservation fees, we cannot give refunds. But that's okay because you'll have a class credit to redeem at whatever future class you choose!

However, if the class is canceled by us at any time, you will be given the choice of a refund or a future class credit. This includes cancellations due to winter weather, COVID restrictions, store/shop policies, and our personal emergencies.

Q: When and where to arrive?

A: Just get there a few minutes early!

Q: Are food and drink allowed?  Kind of.

A: Food grease or sticky residue will mar the surface of the wood by leaving fingerprints and oily smudges. This cannot be fixed during class.

We ask that you not keep food or drink on the crafting table. If you spill, it can ruin your art, your neighbor's art, and kill the machines.***

***NOTE: Our professional woodburning units are expensive, and any damage incurred to our units will be the responsibility of the participant to replace. These charges can reach over $200.***
